She has contributed to various clinical research trials and has a strong academic background, holding a doctoral degree in Health Science and Exercise Leadership and a master’s degree in health science and clinical research administration.
Dr. Brown’s leadership extends to a new initiative, The Divine Health & Wellness Center, Inc., a nonprofit organization aimed at providing programs for health, wellness, education, recreation, and sports in the local community. Through this initiative, the organization is committed to meeting unmet health and fitness needs through Lifestyle Medicine, ensuring that underserved community members have the resources they need to live healthier lives across the lifespan.
Physical inactivity, obesity in both children and adults, poor chronic disease management, and inadequate maternal health are among the most significant health risks currently facing our community.
Our mission is to address these critical health challenges by leveraging innovative programs and providing needed services in the community, and in collaboration with healthcare providers, utilizing lifestyle medicine to reduce health disparities within Baltimore City. Specifically, we focus on combating child and adult obesity, physical inactivity, and chronic disease management, often referred to as lifestyle diseases. We also have programs to help reduce infant mortality and improve maternal health and health outcomes. We are strong proponents of exercise as medicine, advocating for physicians to prescribe exercise as a treatment for their patients who are impacted by these ailments.
In addition, we aim to mitigate other health disparities and public health concerns in minority communities through programs and services that promote recreation, wellness, education, sports, and mentoring. As a nonprofit organization, our commitment is to offer services that enhance the mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of underserved and at-risk populations in Baltimore City, supporting their health across the lifespan.
